Food manufacturers face extra scrutiny

Aside from law changes and the new ISO standard, businesses should also be aware of the approach taken by the HSE with regard to enforcing existing legislation.

This year, for example, the HSE says it is focusing on inspections in food manufacturing businesses to ensure that employees are not facing undue levels of risk from certain processes.

These include the asthma risk associated with the use of flour in baking, and lower back pain caused by repetitive manual activities.
