Be ready for an HSE construction site inspection in June

Construction HSE Inspectors will be conducting random site inspections focusing on dust control from the 6 June 2022 on a month long campaign.

The inspections are checking employers and workers know the risks, plan their work and are using the right controls to protect workers from inhaling construction dust including respirable crystalline silica (RCS) and wood dust.

Employers are advised to ensure their ‘at risk workers’ have the correct control measures in place.  On tool extraction or background LEV systems should be fit for purpose, serviced and used.  If tight fitting RPE has been issued, ensure that face fit test have been completed specific to the mask being worn.  (It is good practice to have these records on site).   Wearers of this type of RPE should be clean shaven.
